Since Damn Arms dissolved last year the boys have all gone on to be very busy. Ben joined Cut Copy, Simon joined the Lost Valentinos, Tim moved to Tokyo to run a club night at Le Baron, make disco and eat loads of rice. But the topic of this post is Yama, he's been flat out with his producer/DJ alter ego "GLOVES".
I spent a large part of 2007 tour managing Damn Arms (we did laps of Australia with Cut Copy, Klaxons, Midnight Juggernauts and loads more). We all got to know each other quite well and wound up being pretty physically and mentally wrecked by pretty much 6 months of non-stop partying together. So whenever I get to see any of them I get pretty excited. This weekend, Yama is coming down to Adelaide to DJ and celebrate the release of his single "PYX" on Bang Gang 12 inches.
Make sure you get to see him play and ask him about the time we left Simon asleep on a plane cos he smelt like booze so bad.

The Swiss
We would like to officially and with great sadness say good luck and farewell to The Swiss.
It's cool, they didn't die. They have signed with our good friends Modular!
We will still be working with The Swiss on a management level and Modular will be putting out their records. So stay tuned for big things from the guys.

Luca Bacchetti
Coming in October we have Italian minimal techno producer and DJ Luca Bacchetti playing at Really Good.

It's a big step sideways for us in terms of genre and style but it's super exciting to be doing something different. And this guy's music is really cool, it's minimal but still melodic and fun.
If you want to check out a live mix by Luca recorded at an awesome little club in NYC called Cielo hit the link here
Check out his track Caribbean as well

The Swiss "Movements" (RLY000) Digi EP for sale

The Swiss' "Movements" EP is now available digitally (in WAV or 320kbps mp3) at the Really Real Records Internet Shop for $6AUD. That is a mindwrecking bargain of a pricetag. Also, good luck trying to find this anywhere else.
Tracklisting
1. Movement Part I
2. Movement Part II
3. Movement Part III
In a time when everyone who isn’t Crookers is claiming to be a “disco act”, there is an insurmountable wash of pretenders. Adelaide trio The Swiss, however, are a legit live disco band who’s existence is based entirely on flavour and good times rather than the Cobra Snake and fitted caps. [NERDY BIT: They are a band who are getting Giancarlo Meo tattoos rather than googling Giorgio Moroder best-of tracklists]
This EP is testament to what lies at the core lifestyle of The Swiss: crisp and snappy drums that cause pregnancies, quicksand lazer-sludge bass, dizzy pops & flourishes, melody rays and synthesised strings that glide on the thermal currents of life. It’s as much a breathy telephone call as it is a mid-range Bordeaux shared between ensconced lovers.
Produced by Donnie Sloan (Empire Of The Sun, Sneaky Sound System), “Movements” is a 3-part jam-lover’s jam. A first-class ticket aboard the Jam Express, all the way to Jam Central, Jamsville, the Jamniverse.

RLY001: BEHIND THE SCENES
Moderate level of behind the scenes voyeurism into Really Real Records' first release "Bubble Bath" by the Swiss, as produced by total production legend producer Donnie Sloan:

Donnie Sloan weaving the dreams that dreams are made of.

(Top-Bottom) Moog Multimoog, Roland VP-330, Solina String Ensemble.

The Yamaha CS-80, quite possibly the most incredible synth of all time. This particular one is retr0-fitted with midi.
